Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does it take to receive my new baseball or softball glove once I order it?

A: Stock gloves are generally shipped immediately via UPS ground. If a stock glove is temporarily "out of stock" it is usually shipped within a few days. Glovesmith custom gloves take about 3 to 4 weeks from the time the order is placed to the day you receive your glove. This is the fastest turnaround in the industry. The SSK and Mizuno custom gloves ship in about 5 weeks, and Rawlings custom gloves are made overseas and take about 5-6 weeks for you to receive. They ship via Fed-Ex.

Q: What size glove do I need?

A: Glove size is the measurement from the top of the index finger down the palm to the base of the glove. This is measured in inches from 10.25 through 13.5. If you are unsure about the size of glove you need, please call us so we can determine what position you normally play and what sport (baseball or softball) you play. We can advise you as to what size is best for you.

Q: What is the difference between Oil-Tanned and Dura Tanned leather?

A: The Dura-Tanned leather is a stiffer and thicker leather (about 10% thicker) than the Oil-Tanned leather. It takes longer to break in, but the glove remains more rigid after broken in. The Oil-Tanned leather is treated at the factory so that it is suppler. This glove will break in more quickly than the Dura-Tanned glove. It will also be more "floppy" than the Dura-Tanned glove after broken in. The quality, however, is basically the same.

Q: Is one type of web better than another?

A: It's strictly a preference thing. Not all webs will fit on all gloves. There really is no "best" web.

Q: Is there a glove "back" that is better than the others?

A: This is, once again, a matter of personal preference. Although for smaller hands, especially small female hands, you might want to consider the "Velcro" back. This will allow for a tight fit. Not all gloves are available with all backs. The larger gloves are not available with open backs due to the fact that the long fingers need the additional leather to support the fingers from bending backwards.

Q: What is the Guarantee?

A: All baseball and softball gloves are guaranteed, for a period of 1 year, from defects in workmanship and materials. If the glove has not been abused, all Glovesmith and SSK gloves are guaranteed for 2 years. This is the best warranty in the industry. This gives you two years of complete satisfaction!

Q: What is Custom Glove's return policy?

A: Stock gloves If you do not like the glove for any reason, return the glove back to us, unused, for a complete refund. Your credit card will be credited immediately.
